Twelve tones. Each one starts quiet and gets louder in steps until you press I hear it. That level is your threshold at that pitch, and it lands on the chart.

A sentence, as you hear it
The letters s, f, sh, th, ch, k, t, p and h carry almost no energy below 2 kHz. Lose the top of the chart and they are the first to go, which is why voices sound loud enough but not clear.

Three things we will not do
- Sell you a hearing aid on the day. You leave with your chart and a reading; the device decision can wait a week.
- Take a commission from a brand. We stock four makers and the fitting fee is the same for every one.
- Keep the chart from you. It is your ear. You get the audiogram, on paper, every visit.
